Kampala, Uganda — Ethiopian immigrants in Uganda will have an opportunity to learn more about the Welcome Corps program and other essential information for resettlement, thanks to a special session organized by the International Rescue Committee (IRC). This one-day event is set for November 6 and will take place at Grand HB Hall from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Attendees will have the chance to receive detailed guidance on the Welcome Corps program, including eligibility, application processes, and financial requirements.
The Welcome Corps program is designed to facilitate resettlement opportunities for refugees through a community-based sponsorship model. During the session, IRC experts will clarify key questions:
- Eligibility – Who can apply for the Welcome Corps program? Refugees will learn the specific requirements they need to meet to be considered eligible for the program.
- Sponsorship – The role of sponsors in the application process will be a focus of discussion. Experts will explain if sponsorship is mandatory and how it impacts the application.
- Cost of Application – Some may wonder if there are costs associated with applying. IRC representatives will clarify any potential fees involved.
- Application Accessibility in Uganda – A major question for Ethiopian immigrants in Uganda is whether applications can currently be processed from their host country. IRC experts will provide up-to-date information on this.
- Processing Timeline – Attendees will also learn how long the process might take, helping them understand what to expect in terms of timing.
- Educational Requirements – Another point of interest will be whether applicants with varying levels of education, including those with low educational backgrounds, can still apply. IRC representatives aim to ensure that no one feels excluded due to their educational status.
The IRC has extended an open invitation to all Ethiopian refugees in Uganda to attend the session, which will also provide an opportunity to ask additional questions and clear up any uncertainties. IRC representative David is available at 0756152336 for further information or inquiries about the event.
This informational session is an essential initiative to support Ethiopian immigrants in understanding resettlement options and empowering them to make informed decisions for their future.
